How hospital delivery works in San Francisco

  • Give us the patient's full name as registered at admission, plus the unit and room number if you know them. Hospitals will not release room numbers to us for privacy reasons.
  • Deliveries go to the main lobby, information desk or gift shop. Hospital staff bring the flowers to the room; the courier notes who accepted them in your tracking.
  • Check the unit. ICU, oncology, transplant and NICU floors usually do not allow fresh flowers or latex balloons. A plant or an orchid is the safe choice there, and we will suggest one if the unit you name has restrictions.
  • Discharged already? Call or text us and we redirect the delivery to the patient's home address the same day.
  • Keep it compact and scent-free. Bedside tables are small and strongly scented flowers such as lilies are discouraged on many floors, so our hospital designs are compact, bright and light on fragrance.

Hospital-friendly flowers from our San Francisco studio

Every arrangement is made to order the day it ships, in a vase or a box that needs no extra container at the bedside.

  • Get-well flowers — bright, compact arrangements designed for a hospital room.
  • Orchids — scent-free, long-lasting and allowed on most floors where cut flowers are not.
  • Plants — a living gift the patient can take home.
  • New-baby flowers — soft, scent-free designs for maternity wards.
  • Flowers under $99 — cheerful hand-tied bouquets for a quick visit.

Tips for sending flowers to a hospital

  • Order by 3 PM for same-day delivery in San Francisco; for Stanford and Palo Alto hospitals order by 1 PM.
  • Add the patient's phone number at checkout so the courier can confirm the unit if the patient has moved.
  • Choose compact designs: a 6 to 8 inch vase or a flower box fits a bedside table.
  • Skip lilies and other heavily scented flowers; many wards discourage them and some patients are sensitive to fragrance.
  • For ICU, oncology, transplant and NICU patients choose an orchid or a plant, or send the flowers to the family's home instead.
  • Write the card for the patient, not the room: staff may move patients between units during the day.

Hospital flower delivery FAQ

Can I send flowers to a patient in a San Francisco hospital the same day?

Yes. Order by 3 PM and your flowers are designed at our Ellis St studio and delivered to the hospital the same day, usually within a few hours. For Stanford Hospital and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital we ask for orders by 1 PM because of the drive. You receive a photo of the arrangement before it leaves and a tracking link while the courier is on the way.

Where exactly are the flowers delivered inside the hospital?

Our courier brings the flowers to the main lobby reception, information desk or gift shop, which is where San Francisco hospitals ask deliveries to go. Hospital staff then carry them to the patient's room. That is why we need the patient's full name as registered at admission and, when you have it, the unit and room number.

Which hospital units do not allow flowers?

Most intensive care, oncology, transplant and neonatal units do not allow fresh flowers or latex balloons. If the patient is on one of these floors, choose an orchid or a plant, or have the flowers delivered to the family's home. If you are not sure, call us and we will check with the hospital.

What if the patient has been discharged before the flowers arrive?

Call or text us as soon as you know and we redirect the delivery to the patient's home address the same day. If the hospital tells our courier that the patient has left, we contact you right away for a new address.

Do you deliver to hospitals outside San Francisco?

Yes. From our San Bruno studio we deliver to Peninsula hospitals from Daly City to Palo Alto, and we deliver across the bridge to Oakland and Berkeley hospitals the same day.
