New Year Flowers in Los Angeles: What to Order and When

New Year flowers in Los Angeles have one job the rest of the year does not ask of them: they have to look right at 11:58 PM, in low light, in everyone’s photographs. White, gold and champagne tones do that. This is what we send out of the Downtown LA studio for December 31 — what to order, when to order it, and how to size a centerpiece so your guests can still see each other across the table.

What Makes a Flower Arrangement Feel Like New Year

Midnight Pine — $249, built low for a midnight table

Christmas flowers are warm: red, berry, cinnamon, a lot of green. New Year flowers are cooler and more metallic — white roses, amaryllis, white hydrangea and orchids, with pine kept as structure rather than as the point, and gold or silver accents doing the celebrating. The difference is roughly the difference between a family dinner and a party, and you can feel it on the table.

Two shapes cover almost every New Year’s Eve we deliver for. A low centerpiece, under 12 inches, that sits between the plates and the glasses and never blocks a face. And one tall statement piece — at the entrance, on the bar, or beside the champagne — that gives the room a focal point and gives guests somewhere to stand. Midnight Pine ($249) and Crimson Tapers ($249) are the first shape; the Red Amaryllis Statement Tower ($899) is the second.

Did you know? The tradition of flowers at New Year is older than the champagne. Romans exchanged branches from the grove of the goddess Strenia on January 1 as a wish for a good year ahead — the Latin word for those gifts, strenae, is still the French word for a New Year gift, étrennes. The greenery came first; the toast was added about fifteen centuries later.

Choosing Flowers for a Party Table

Crimson Tapers — $249, candles and flowers in one piece

Measure the table before you order. A six-foot table takes one centerpiece; eight feet and above looks thin with one and crowded with three, so two spaced evenly is usually right. If you are using candles, pick an arrangement that already includes them rather than crowding tapers around a separate vase — that is what Crimson Tapers is for.

Colour, in practice: white and gold photographs cleanly under warm indoor lighting; deep red and black look dramatic in person but turn into a dark blob in phone photos. If the room is dim — and most New Year’s Eve rooms are — go paler than you think. For a buffet or a bar, where nobody sits, height is free: that is the one place to use something tall.

Flowers as a New Year Gift

Winter Pine arrangement as a New Year gift, Los Angeles - Pink Clover
Winter Pine — $139, the one we send most as a gift

New Year gifting is quieter than Christmas gifting and, in our order book, more often sent between friends and between colleagues than within families. The brief is usually “something fresh, nothing heavy”: Winter Pine ($139) with its citrus and pinecones, Winter Greens ($59) as a small desk gift, or an orchid plant if you want it to still be alive in March.

For offices, January 2 is a better delivery date than December 31 — the flowers greet people on the first day back instead of sitting in an empty building over the weekend. We can invoice the company and deliver to several addresses on one order.

Florist’s Tip: How to Make Them Last Through the Party and the Week After

I cut stems at an angle under running water and change the water every two days — that alone is most of the difference between seven days and ten. The thing people miss on New Year’s Eve specifically: heating. An arrangement parked near a vent or above a fireplace will drop in a day, and LA houses run the heat hard on a 50°F night. Move it off the mantel and onto the table.

The other one is timing. If the party starts at 9 PM, take delivery that morning, not the afternoon — flowers need a few hours in water in a cool room to open properly, and an arrangement that arrives at 6 PM is still tight at midnight. We schedule New Year’s Eve deliveries in the 12–4 PM window for exactly this reason.

FAQ

Do you deliver New Year flowers in Los Angeles?

Yes, seven days a week across Downtown LA, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank and Culver City. Order by 5:30 PM PT for same-day delivery, and we deliver on December 31 and on January 1.

What are the most festive flower options for ringing in the new year?

White and gold: white roses, amaryllis, orchids and hydrangea with pine, gold ornaments and metallic ribbon. Midnight Pine ($249) and Crimson Tapers ($249) are built for a midnight table.

What flowers are best for a New Year's Eve party?

Low centerpieces under 12 inches so guests can see across the table, plus one tall piece at the entrance or the bar. Pale tones photograph better than dark ones under party lighting, which matters when everyone is taking pictures at midnight.

Can I order champagne and flowers delivered together in Los Angeles?

We deliver the flowers; alcohol we do not ship. A bottle you supply can be handed over with the arrangement if you arrange it with us beforehand — most hosts pair Winter Pine ($139) with their own champagne.

Do you run a New Year flower arranging class?

Yes. Our Flower Arranging Class runs on November 29 and December 6, 13 and 20 at 2:00 PM in the Downtown LA studio — two hours, $150 per person, everything included, and the arrangement goes home with you.

How much do New Year flowers cost?

From $119 for Winter Bloom to $899 for the Red Amaryllis Statement Tower, with most arrangements between $139 and $299. Entrance installations are quoted to size.

When should I order for New Year's Eve?

Two to three days ahead for a chosen delivery window. December 30 and 31 are the busiest days of that week, and a party with ten or more tables needs five days so we can source the volume.

Do you make centerpieces for a New Year's Eve table?

Yes, sized to your table. Tell us the length and the number of guests and we build low enough for conversation to cross — homes, restaurants, hotels and venues across Los Angeles.

What flowers symbolize a fresh start?

White flowers for a clean slate, daffodils and narcissus for good fortune, and orchids for prosperity. That is why orchids appear in both Western and Lunar New Year arrangements — and a white orchid plant keeps going for months after cut flowers are done.

Do you deliver Lunar New Year flowers too?

Yes — see Lunar New Year Flowers in Los Angeles for plum blossom, orchids and lucky bamboo. Lunar New Year 2027 falls on February 6.
